In a poignant tribute, Norwegian artist “Norsizoy” utilized the celebration of St. Lucia’s commemoration in Scandinavian churches to remember the martyrdom of St. Lucia of Sicily. Draped in a Palestinian keffiyeh, the artist passionately sang a hymn dedicated to the brave women martyrs of Gaza, accompanied by the choir of the Norwegian Lutheran Church.

With candles illuminating her presence, Norsizoy expressed solidarity with the women of Palestine, condemning the ongoing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people. The video showcased images of the martyrs, including Heba Abu Nada, a poet who sacrificed her life during the events of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on October 20, 2023.

The video also paid tribute to Ilham Farah, a retired music teacher, who faced an Israeli sniper’s fire, and the tragic fate of Ayat Khudari, a dedicated journalist, and Bisan Halasa, a committed doctor on duty. These stories emphasize the profound impact and sacrifices made by Palestinian women.

The recent loss of Heba Abu Nada, known for her poignant writings such as “Oxygen is not for the Dead,” highlights the continuous aggression against the people of Gaza. Abu Nada, born in 1991 and residing in Gaza, devoted her writing to voice the Palestinian cause and its struggles.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, the last words she shared on social media were, “We in Gaza are, in the eyes of Allah, either martyrs or witnesses to liberation. We all await where we will be. We all await, O Allah, your true promise.”

Ilham Farah, a 75-year-old retired music teacher, faced a tragic end when an Israeli sniper wounded her, and Israeli forces denied access to ambulances. The video captured the harrowing circumstances as she was left to die slowly on the street, illustrating the cruelty of the occupation.

Similarly, journalist Ayat Omar Ayoub Khudari, aged 27, lost her life when Israeli warplanes targeted her family’s home in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. A digital content producer and podcaster, Khudari shared a poignant video capturing her final moments.

The international community mourns the loss of these remarkable women, condemning the crimes of the occupation. Their stories, like those of countless others, demand to be told and remembered. Palestinian Women Martyrs
