The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, Omar Rekkache, revealed the number of investment projects registered in the plastics sector, emphasizing that the development of this sector is measured not only by production volume but primarily by the local integration rate within the value chain.
During the opening of a workshop dedicated to plastic and polymer activities at the agency’s headquarters on Monday, alongside the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, Kamel Moula, Rekkache explained that the number of investment projects registered in the plastics sector reached 675. Of these, 383 are new projects, while the remainder are expansions, with a total declared amount of 138.7 billion dinars and an expected creation of 15,150 direct jobs.
Rekkache also noted the registration of 6 direct foreign investments and 18 projects in partnership with local operators, reflecting the sector’s position as an attractive space for capital and expertise.
In his speech, Rekkache stressed that these figures are not just statistics but have become a tangible reality on the ground. He noted that 51 projects have been completed and entered actual operation, while 242 projects have submitted progress reports in accordance with the legal provisions governing the investment monitoring process.
