Adjali Discusses Ways to Enhance Algeria’s Position as a Reliable Continental Energy Partner

Mourad Adjali, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, received Farid Ghazali, the newly appointed Secretary-General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, on Sunday at the ministry’s headquarters. The meeting was dedicated to discussing ways of cooperation and partnership between the energy and renewable energies sector and this significant regional organization.

During the meeting, which was attended by several key ministry officials, Farid Ghazali reviewed the main pillars of the roadmap that the organization will adopt in the coming period to enhance intra-African cooperation. This focus is particularly aimed at ensuring regional market self-sufficiency, a strategy that requires the participation of all energy actors in Algeria, especially the energy and renewable energies sector.

For his part, the Minister congratulated Ghazali on his appointment to lead the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, expressing pride in Algerian expertise reaching such prominent international positions. The Minister also welcomed cooperation with this regional organization, emphasizing the need to expand its activities to include energy and renewable energy sectors to open broader horizons for cooperation and provide Algeria with greater opportunities to establish its position as an important and reliable energy partner.

In the same context, the Minister spoke about the significant capabilities and expertise that Algeria possesses through its energy institutions, which qualify it to enter the African market and secure a significant share, as it is a partner capable of meeting the needs of the African market across the entire value chain. He pointed to the important role that Sonelgaz-International can play in strengthening this cooperation, especially since it provides the framework that enables public and private Algerian companies to access foreign markets, particularly in Africa, through genuine and serious partnerships.

In conclusion, the Minister affirmed that the ministry’s doors remain open to all projects and initiatives that would enhance Algeria’s position on the continental level, aligning specifically with Algerian foreign policy.
