During the eighth symposium of the Algerian Gas Industry Association in Oran, the President of the International Gas Union, Andrea Stegher, confirmed that Algeria represents a leading model in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG), praising its long experience and infrastructure, which he described as a “strategic asset.”
Stegher pointed out that gas is not just a fuel, but an essential element for achieving a sustainable and affordable energy transition. He emphasized that gas is the optimal solution to meet the growing demand for energy resulting from the expansion of artificial intelligence and data centers, while ensuring a reduction in carbon emissions.
The President of the International Gas Union also called for strengthening investment in infrastructure and digitalization, praising Algeria’s experience in building long-term partnerships that have enhanced reliability in the international market.
The symposium saw the participation of more than 700 experts and representatives of major companies, including Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, to discuss the role of innovation and hydrogen in a sustainable gas industry.
