The Hydrocarbon Regulatory Authority, along with the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, discussed the launch of an initiative to create a forum for hydrocarbon sector regulatory bodies on the continent.
According to a statement from the authority, this occurred during a meeting where the President of the Hydrocarbon Regulatory Authority, Amine Remini, received the Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, Farid Ghazali, in early April. The meeting addressed topics of common interest, particularly the authority’s duties and expertise in regulating and monitoring hydrocarbon activities.
During the meeting, Ghazali gave a general presentation on the stakes and challenges facing energy markets, including the African market, where discussions focused on the “upcoming launch of the African Regulators Forum.”
The President of the Hydrocarbon Regulatory Authority praised this initiative, which “primarily aims to unify rules and best practices in the hydrocarbon field.”
For its part, the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization confirmed in a statement that both parties “noted a convergence of views on the importance of this initiative, emphasizing the need to include it within a clear roadmap based on specific stages, priorities, and milestones.”
