Algeria Launches Largest-Ever Non-Hydrocarbon Export Drive Targeting 19 Countries

Algeria launched on Saturday its largest-ever non-hydrocarbon export operation, dispatching a diverse range of nationally produced goods to 19 countries across four continents, in a landmark step toward diversifying the national economy and reducing dependence on oil and gas revenues.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion announced that the operation was inaugurated in its first phase from the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou, in the presence of Minister Kamal Rezig, who described the initiative as a reflection of Algeria’s growing export momentum and the rising competitiveness of its domestic industries on the global stage.

“This operation demonstrates the dynamic transformation underway in Algeria’s non-hydrocarbon export sector,” Minister Rezig stated, adding that the diversity of products and participating enterprises underscores the maturity reached by numerous national productive sectors and their ability to penetrate international markets — made possible by sustained state support for economic operators.

The minister stressed that this initiative directly implements directives issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at boosting non-hydrocarbon exports, diversifying the national economy, and strengthening the presence of Algerian products in global markets.

Nationwide Mobilization Across 13 Wilayas

The operation encompasses 35 export shipments departing simultaneously from 13 wilayas, including El Meghaier, Mostaganem, Relizane, Oran (via the ports of Oran and Arzew), Tizi Ouzou, Sétif, Jijel, Algiers (Houari Boumediene International Airport), Bordj Bou Arreridj, Annaba, Béjaïa, Skikda, and Biskra.

The 19 destination countries span 8 European nations, 5 Arab and African states, and 6 countries in the Americas, underlining the broad geographical reach Algeria is now achieving with its export diversification strategy.

Wide Range of Exported Products

The exported goods cover a broad spectrum of industrial, textile, and agricultural products, including:

  • Cherry tomatoes and fresh fruits
  • Food products and dairy items
  • Dates
  • Cleaning products and paper
  • Packaging materials
  • Home appliances and spare parts
  • Ceramics and construction materials (cement, clinker, steel rebar)

Major National Companies at the Forefront

Several leading Algerian enterprises participated in this historic operation, including Champs du Sud, TOSYALI, HOLCIM CILAS, CATM, FADERCO, and AGROFILM, among others — representing Algeria’s expanding industrial and agri-food base.

This export drive marks a significant milestone in Algeria’s strategic ambition to position itself as a competitive exporter beyond hydrocarbons, opening new horizons for Algerian-made products across global markets.
