Algeria Signs Energy Cooperation Roadmap with Latin America & Caribbean Organization

Algeria’s Minister of State for Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, received on Tuesday the Executive Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), Andres Rebolledo Smitmans, during a working visit to Algiers on April 21-22, 2026.

The meeting, attended by Sonatrach CEO Noureddine Daoudi and senior energy officials, reviewed Algeria’s cooperation with OLACDE since joining as an observer member in 2001, with permanent observer status granted in 2018.

Both sides discussed global oil and gas market developments, emphasizing coordination among producing nations to ensure supply security and market stability. Minister Arkab reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to South-South cooperation and a just energy transition that respects developing nations’ needs.

The talks concluded with the signing of a cooperation roadmap aimed at launching joint projects, expertise exchange programs, and technology transfer initiatives to advance sustainable development and energy integration between Algeria and OLACDE member states.
