Ben Fateh Abdelhafidf Elected New President of Algeria’s National Union of Lawyers

Ben Fateh Abdelhafidf has been elected as the new President of Algeria’s National Union of Lawyers’ Organizations, succeeding Ibrahim Tayri, following elections held today at the Supreme Court headquarters in Abiar.

Algeria’s Justice Minister congratulated Ben Fateh Abdelhafidf on his election during the electoral general assembly, marking a significant milestone in Algeria’s legal landscape.

The Council of State had previously annulled the first round of elections held last May, citing procedural irregularities, which necessitated the organization of fresh elections.

The initial elections had faced strong objections from several regional bar associations, including Algiers, Blida, Tlemcen, and Bouira, who told dzwatch that the process lacked transparency and was marked by regionalism — allegations firmly denied by the outgoing national bar president.
