China has announced significant new measures designed to streamline imports from African nations, enhancing market access and fostering mutual benefits. These initiatives include the modernization of "green channels" and the effective implementation of zero-tariff treatment for African countries maintaining diplomatic ties with Beijing.

Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted during a press briefing that these steps are aimed at expanding the accessibility of African products to the Chinese market. This announcement follows a directive from the General Administration of Customs (GAC), which will grant African coffee beans meeting sanitary requirements full access to the Chinese market starting July 20th.
According to the GAC, coffee beans from all African nations with diplomatic relations with China can now be exported to the Chinese market, provided they comply with the specifications outlined in announcement No. 68 of 2026. This move integrates coffee into the list of agricultural products benefiting from unified regional access to China's vast market.
Mme. Mao emphasized that the zero-tariff treatment extended to 53 African countries represents a "new window of opportunity" for African exports. She affirmed that this policy underscores China's commitment to promoting cooperation based on "sincerity, effective results, friendship, and good faith," principles championed by President Xi Jinping in Sino-African relations. The Chinese diplomat expressed optimism for a greater variety of high-quality African products and local specialties entering the Chinese market in the coming years.
