Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf has concluded a series of significant bilateral meetings in Seoul, held on the sidelines of the Africa-Korea Partnership Ministerial Meeting. These diplomatic engagements underscore Algeria's active role in strengthening ties across the African continent and beyond.
Algeria African diplomatic ties
In discussions with Mohamed Ali Nafti, the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Minister Attaf focused on the forthcoming meeting of the Algerian-Tunisian Follow-up Committee. The primary objective is to assess the progress made on the conclusions of the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Grand Commission. Both ministers expressed a shared commitment to elevating their bilateral partnership to meet the ambitious goals set by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Kaïs Saïed.
Minister Attaf also met with Corinne Amori Brunet, Benin's Minister of Foreign Affairs. During their exchange, Attaf extended congratulations on her recent appointment and discussed prospects for enhancing the fraternal and cooperative relations between the two nations, particularly following the recent establishment of resident diplomatic representations. The ministers also addressed various issues of mutual concern, with a particular focus on developments in the Sahel-Saharan region.
Further engagements in Seoul included bilateral talks with Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdel Aati. The discussions centered on joint efforts to consolidate the fraternal and partnership relations, especially in economic sectors. The current situation in the Arab region and key dossiers on the African Union's agenda, ahead of upcoming continental deadlines in Egypt later this month, were also thoroughly reviewed.
With Bianca Odumiego Ojoko, Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister Attaf offered congratulations on her new role. The ministers explored avenues to strengthen the exceptional ties between Algeria and Nigeria, addressing developments in the Sahel region and strategizing joint contributions to promoting peace and development through integrative structural projects.
Finally, Minister Attaf held discussions with Antonio Téte, Angola's Minister of External Relations. This meeting served to review ongoing efforts by both parties to sustain the positive momentum in Algerian-Angolan relations. Particular emphasis was placed on implementing significant decisions recently made in Algiers by the leaders of both countries, aiming to reinforce the institutional and legal framework while consolidating and expanding sectoral cooperation.
