Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks with former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Seoul on Tuesday. Ban Ki-moon currently chairs the General Assembly and the Governing Board of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).
Algeria strengthens green growth cooperation
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the second day of the Korea-Africa Ministerial Meeting, provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for strengthening cooperation between Algeria and GGGI. Algeria's upcoming membership in the international organization in August 2025 was a key point of discussion, alongside exploring avenues to enhance the partnership, particularly in areas related to environmental protection, sustainable development, and the energy transition.
Both sides also addressed the ongoing preparations for Ban Ki-moon's upcoming visit to Algeria. This visit is expected to provide new impetus to cooperation between Algeria and GGGI and explore new partnership opportunities in areas of mutual interest, according to a statement from the Ministry.
