The meeting, attended by the ILO's Regional Director for Africa and an advisor to the Director-General, highlighted Algeria's pioneering experience in social dialogue and its balanced, constructive relations among social partners. Minister Saihi emphasized Algeria's commitment to supporting capacity-building efforts across the African continent, offering its expertise in social security to sisterly African nations through specialized training programs at the Higher School of Social Security. This initiative aims to bolster institutional competencies and foster South-South cooperation.

Director-General Houngbo recalled his visit to Algeria in April 2024, expressing admiration for the country's social security system. He recognized the potential of the Higher School of Social Security to become a leading African hub for training, underscoring the importance of enhanced collaboration in labor statistics and knowledge exchange.

Minister Saihi also proposed the creation of a specialized African forum on labor legislation. This platform would serve as a space for sharing experiences and evaluating African labor laws, enabling the continent to adapt to evolving economic and social landscapes. He commended the vital role of the ILO office in Algeria in various cooperation and partnership endeavors.

Officials from the ILO emphasized the need to strengthen coordination between the ILO's International Training Centre in Turin and African training centers, including Algeria's institutions, to leverage international expertise. Both sides concluded by stressing the importance of broadening cooperation and partnership between Algeria and the ILO, enhancing the exchange of successful experiences in training, employment, social security, and labor legislation to serve the socio-economic development goals of the African continent.
