Saïd Sayoud, the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, conducted an inspection visit to the Port of Algiers on Thursday, underscoring the critical need for optimal reception conditions and accelerated cargo processing. The visit aimed to assess working conditions and the quality of services provided at the vital maritime hub.
Algeria Port Efficiency Improvement
During a meeting with port officials, Minister Sayoud emphasized the imperative to boost performance and elevate the standard of port services. He affirmed that the state has equipped the port's management with all necessary human and material resources, stressing that innovative solutions must be implemented to achieve the required operational efficiency.
To that end, the minister issued directives to expedite the processing and evacuation of goods within tight deadlines. He called upon relevant economic operators to promptly retrieve their merchandise, thereby alleviating pressure on the port, reducing congestion, and streamlining vessel traffic and overall port operations.
Minister Sayoud also ordered the implementation of continuous working systems and the full utilization of available resources to ensure uninterrupted activity and hasten the pace of various port operations. He stressed the necessity of completely eliminating waiting times at the port and called for strengthened coordination among all stakeholders, particularly the National Security services and Customs, to ensure operational fluidity and swift processing.
The minister commended the positive results already achieved at Algerian ports, attributing them to the concerted efforts of all parties involved. He highlighted the ongoing need to further optimize port services to maintain momentum and enhance efficiency.
