Algeria’s Public Works Minister Demands Accelerated Project Timelines in Tébessa

Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures, Abdelkader Djellaoui, has stressed the critical importance of reducing project execution timelines across the sector. Speaking from Tébessa, Djellaoui emphasized that accelerating the completion of infrastructure projects is essential to ensure their timely operationalization, a key objective for national development.

Algeria infrastructure project acceleration

During the second day of his working visit to the wilaya, the minister oversaw the commencement of the project to duplicate a 20-kilometer stretch of National Road (RN) 83, connecting the communes of Hammamet and Bir Mokkadem. He reiterated the directive to expedite project delivery by mobilizing all necessary human, material, and technical resources to meet ambitious deadlines.

Minister Djellaoui inspected the ongoing work on a particularly challenging rocky section of the RN 83, navigating the curves of the Fedj El Gaâgaâ mountain. He received a detailed technical briefing on the planned works and the strategic measures being implemented to overcome the inherent difficulties presented by the mountainous terrain along this segment of the dual carriageway. This significant infrastructure upgrade represents a public investment of 3.5 billion Algerian Dinars.

Further underscoring the focus on efficiency, the minister also inaugurated the expansion work on an art structure beneath the tarmac of Cheikh Larbi-Tebessi Airport. He received comprehensive explanations regarding the project's scope and subsequently instructed the project management firm, Sero-Est (Société d’études et de réalisation d’ouvrages d’art de l’Est), to compress the execution period from the initially planned six months down to four months.

Minister Djellaoui's visit to Tébessa, which began on Thursday afternoon, also included an inspection of the progress on the Eastern mining railway line. On that occasion, he conveyed the regards of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the dedicated workforce of public enterprises including Cosider-Travaux publics, Cosider-Ouvrages d’art, and Sapta (Société algérienne des ponts et ouvrages d’art), acknowledging their strenuous efforts toward the successful realization of this vital project.
