Algeria's tourism sector is set to receive a significant boost with the inauguration of the "Foggara" tourist complex in Adrar. The unveiling ceremony, attended by Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Houria Meddahi, and Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, marks a key step in revitalizing recovered assets for socio-economic enhancement.

Minister Meddahi emphasized that the relaunch of this five-star establishment, previously seized and now reintegrated into public management under the Hôtellerie, tourisme et thermalisme (HTT) group, is in line with national directives to leverage recovered projects. This initiative aims to invigorate local and national economies. The Adrar region alone benefits from four such recovered tourism projects, including three hotel establishments in the wilaya capital and one in Reggane, which is slated for operation by year-end.
The "Foggara" complex itself features a five-star hotel and a 40-bungalow tourist village. With its operational status, the local hospitality capacity has expanded to 310 rooms. This expansion will be further amplified by the upcoming launch of the three other recovered projects, promising over 800 additional beds by the end of the current year.
In parallel, the Ministry of Tourism has allocated 200 slots in summer camps for children over seven years old from various Adrar communes. These children will be flown to coastal wilayas for a refreshing summer experience.
