Algeria’s Gara Djebilet Iron Ore Mine Sees Significant Progress, Processing Unit Nears Operation

Krimida Bakir Tafer, the Secretary of State for Mines and Mineral Industries, visited the Gara Djebilet iron ore mine in Tindouf on Monday, June 15th. Her visit focused on overseeing the progress of the mine's exploitation works and inspecting the preliminary processing unit for iron ore, operated by the national iron and steel company, FERAL.

The FERAL processing unit is nearing completion and is set to commence operations shortly. According to the Tindouf province, Tafer's visit was part of a broader initiative to monitor key strategic mining projects across the country. During her inspection, she oversaw the initial trials of the iron ore processing plant following its connection to the electrical grid.

These trials included both no-load and loaded operational tests, marking a crucial step towards the gradual commencement of the mine's full exploitation phase. The development signifies a significant step forward in enhancing Algeria's mineral resources and industrial capacity.
