France is currently experiencing significant disruptions to its electricity network as a severe heatwave continues to grip the nation, leading to widespread power outages. On Friday morning, approximately 46,000 households across several French departments were left without electricity.

According to Enedis, the country's primary electricity distribution network operator, the affected areas include the Yvelines, Gironde, and Hauts-de-Seine departments. The Yvelines region was the hardest hit, with an estimated 25,000 homes losing power. Gironde followed with 7,500 affected households, and Hauts-de-Seine reported 3,000 outages.
The extreme temperatures are placing immense strain on the electrical infrastructure, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities and challenging the network's capacity to maintain a consistent supply. Authorities are urging residents to conserve energy where possible to help alleviate pressure on the grid during this critical period.
