Sonelgaz Initiates Annaba Electrical Network Restoration Post-Wildfires

Sonelgaz services in Annaba have initiated the rehabilitation and replacement of electrical networks damaged by recent forest fires. This comprehensive operation targets approximately 12 kilometers of affected network infrastructure across several localities within the wilaya, addressing damages of varying magnitude.
The affected areas include the communes of Chetaïbi, El Eulma, El Bouni, and Seraïdi, where both medium and low-voltage electrical networks sustained damage. Sonelgaz identified nearly three kilometers of medium-voltage networks that were damaged and fell. Technical teams are actively engaged in removing degraded installations, replacing damaged sections, and rehabilitating affected infrastructure to ensure swift recovery.
Significant progress has been made, with work on intervened sections reaching approximately 90%. The operation is ongoing, aiming for the full replacement of damaged networks and a progressive restoration of electricity supply to the citizens in the affected localities. Restoration efforts are coordinated with other relevant services, and priority is being given to vital installations, such as water pumping stations, to ensure continuous potable water supply for residents and support Civil Protection operations in extinguishing fires, according to Widad Bouhouche, communication manager at Sonelgaz's electricity and gas distribution directorate in Annaba, and the communication cell.
