Niamey to Host Digital Skills Center, 100 Gbps Fiber Link from Algeria

Algeria and Niger have solidified a strategic telecommunications partnership through a series of agreements signed in Niamey. These accords, formalized during a visit by an Algérie Télécom delegation, involve collaborations between Algérie Télécom, Niger Télécoms, and the Higher School of Electronic Communications and Post (ESCEP) in Niamey. The agreements were reportedly signed on September 8 by Amadou Abdou Abdourahamane, managing director of Niger Télécom, and Amina Dahdouh, a representative of Algérie Télécom.

A central component of this partnership is the establishment of a 100 Gbit/s fiber optic link connecting In Guezzam and Agadez. This new infrastructure is designed to enhance international capacity for Niger's network. Algérie Télécom will provide the necessary transmission equipment and supply additional telecommunications equipment to improve connectivity between the two localities.

Further advancing digital development, the agreements also include the creation of a "Skills Center" at ESCEP de Niamey. This facility is described as the first digital skills training center in Niger, intended to educate specialists in digital technologies. Algérie Télécom has committed to providing training and professional development courses for the staff of Niger Télécom, supporting human capital development within the sector.
