Soummam Valley Benefits from Key Sidi-Aïch Infrastructure

The Sidi-Aïch interchange in Béjaïa has officially entered service, marking a key milestone for infrastructure development in the Soummam valley. The inauguration, led by Saïd Yahiaoui, Secretary General of the wilaya, saw a significant institutional presence, including Saïd Chouaib, Director General of Algérienne des Autoroutes (ADA), and Mohand Cherif Maâmeri, President of the Popular Wilaya Assembly (APW). This new facility, located at PK 43, is a critical component of the motorway connecting Béjaïa to the East-West motorway, aiming to alleviate congestion on heavily saturated road axes and provide a vital link for the region.

Spanning over 1.2 kilometers, the interchange directly links the Ath Waghlis and Ath Yemel regions to the penetrant motorway, ensuring more fluid access to the town of Sidi-Aïch and its neighboring communes within the daïras of Sidi-Aïch, Chemini, and Ouzellaguène. This achievement is designed to address numerous traffic-related issues, reduce travel times, and facilitate the daily commutes of citizens as well as the transport of goods. The Public Works Directorate has hailed its commissioning as a central asset for regional infrastructure, underscoring its pivotal role in driving the economic and social development of the entire Soummam valley.

The operationalization of the Sidi-Aïch interchange also signifies substantial progress on the larger 100-kilometer Béjaïa-Ahnif penetrant project, with 90 percent of this major arterial road now open to traffic. This development is expected to enhance overall circulation conditions and access to various localities served, further integrating the region and fostering its growth. Aesthetic improvements around the interchange are also planned to ensure its optimal and lasting service to users.
