Minister Rezig Drives Local Production of Global Brands

Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Professor Kamel Rezig, led a working meeting at the Ministry's headquarters with economic operators representing international single-brand clothing and footwear companies. The discussion centered on strategic efforts to localize the production of these global brands within Algeria.

During the session, participants reviewed local production indicators from the first half of the current year, alongside current production and export capacities and their development prospects. Minister Rezig commended the increase in production by international brands already manufacturing in Algeria, emphasizing that localizing production pathways enhances local added value, strengthens industrial capabilities, and integrates Algerian economic operators into global value chains.

Professor Rezig further announced that several new international brands are set to enter the Algerian market in the coming weeks, with plans to localize a portion of their production domestically. This development underscores the growing attractiveness of the Algerian market and its demonstrated ability to draw in new investments and foster productive activities. The minister also highlighted the importance of completing bank domiciliation procedures for provisional import programs in the clothing and footwear sector, particularly for operators who had not finalized these steps in the first half of the year.
