Minister of Trade Reassures Coffee Importers and Processors on Market Supply Stability

Algiers – Algeria’s Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, held a consultative meeting with stakeholders in the coffee sector, joined by Kamel Moula, the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, and Issem Bedrissi, Secretary-General of the General Union of Algerian Traders and Artisans.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the meeting focused on new measures designed to ensure a stable supply of coffee to the national market at regulated prices. Minister Zitouni reassured all importers and processors of timely compensation based on agreed terms, emphasizing the importance of maintaining ample stock levels of essential goods as Ramadan approaches.

The Minister also called on economic operators and traders to coordinate efforts to regulate the market, uphold ethical trading practices, and combat illegal practices. Participants expressed full commitment to a steady supply, pledging to import sufficient quantities of coffee to address any potential shortages or supply fluctuations affecting consumer availability.
