Béjaïa Receives 20 New Buses for Urban Transport

Béjaïa's urban and semi-urban transport sector has been significantly enhanced with the addition of 20 new buses to its fleet. This development aims to bolster transport capabilities and elevate the standard of public services within the wilaya, directly improving citizen mobility and comfort. The initiative aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's directive to renew the national transport fleet, underscoring a commitment to modernizing essential infrastructure.
The newly acquired vehicles are equipped with contemporary features and technologies, designed to meet current safety and comfort benchmarks for passengers. Following their reception, ten of these buses were immediately deployed at the Béjaïa land transport station, commencing operations to address the growing demand for public transport services. The remaining ten buses are anticipated to enter service progressively in the coming hours, further strengthening the region's transport network.
The operation falls under the direct supervision and continuous monitoring of Said Sayoud, the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, reflecting the government's active role in overseeing such strategic improvements. This fleet expansion forms part of a broader national effort to update Algeria's bus transport system, a program announced by the Ministry of Transport, which includes phases for withdrawing older buses and offering incentives such as tax and customs exemptions to transport operators for acquiring newer models.
