BRI Recovers 2,357 Cultural Artifacts in Mila

Algerian security services recently conducted an operation in the commune of Chelghoum Laïd, located in the wilaya of Mila, resulting in the recovery of 2,357 cultural artifacts. These items, identified as having archaeological and historical significance, were seized by the Brigade of Research and Intervention (BRI) of the Judicial Police within the Mila wilaya security services. This intervention is part of ongoing efforts to counter the illicit trafficking of cultural goods and safeguard Algeria's national heritage.
The successful recovery highlights the effectiveness of field operations in combating various forms of illegal trade involving cultural heritage. Such practices often risk the disappearance or unlawful transfer of historically important items. The retrieval of these artifacts represents a crucial step in the broader mission to preserve Algerian heritage and protect it from loss and smuggling.
Following the operation, Malika Bendouda, the Minister of Culture and Arts, commended the National Security services for their commitment to protecting Algerian cultural heritage. She specifically praised the vigilance and professionalism demonstrated by the police officers and personnel involved. The Minister also underscored the vital importance of continued cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Arts and the General Directorate of National Security in preserving cultural heritage and combating threats to valuable archaeological and historical assets.
