Gymnast Nemour Shares Affection for Algeria, Local Cuisine

Franco-Algerian artistic gymnast Kaylia Nemour shared insights into her visits to Algeria during an exclusive interview with TSA – Tout sur l’Algérie. Despite a demanding sports schedule, Nemour regularly finds opportunities to return to the country, expressing her happiness and appreciation for the experience. She highlighted the welcoming nature of the Algerian people and the appeal of various locations she has discovered.

Nemour recounted that her trips have primarily taken her to Algiers, with two occasions allowing her to explore Oran. Although her stays are often brief and structured around professional and personal commitments, she has managed to enjoy moments of discovery within the capital. Among her favorite sites in Algiers, she specifically mentioned the Jardin d’Essai du Hamma and the Grande Poste, describing the latter as “just magnificent.” She emphasized, “The people are very welcoming, and it’s always a pleasure to come here.”

Her culinary experiences in Algeria also featured in the discussion. Nemour stated her strong liking for “rechta,” a traditional noodle dish. However, she noted a preference against Algerian pastries, which she described as “extremely sweet and full of honey,” aligning with her general dislike for overly sugary foods, despite her personal interest in baking. Underscoring her deepening connection, the gymnast affirmed, “The more I come, the more I want to come back!”
