Saidal Group Partners Syntegon for Local Vaccine Production
Algeria is strengthening its national health sovereignty and pharmaceutical industry through a new industrial partnership with German firm Syntegon for local vaccine manufacturing. This collaboration aims to meet national demand and facilitate exports to African markets.

Algeria is advancing its local vaccine manufacturing capabilities through an industrial partnership with the German company Syntegon, a global leader in pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging equipment. This collaboration is set to establish a new vaccine production line for the public Saidal Group, following discussions between Algerian Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry Wassim Guiddouiri and Syntegon representatives during an Algerian delegation's working visit to Germany. The focus of these negotiations includes finalizing the delivery timeline and production capacities of the new line.
This initiative aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision to enhance national health sovereignty and achieve health independence. The goal is to supply the national market with locally produced vaccines, manufactured through a complete production cycle to cover all vaccines specified in the national immunization schedule. The establishment of this production line is considered a fundamental industrial pillar for implementing prior agreements with major international vaccine producers, aiming for integrated manufacturing and technology transfer to the Saidal Group.
Beyond national self-sufficiency, Saidal Group aims to export these locally manufactured vaccines to African countries. This includes accessing external markets, particularly in Africa, through vaccine acquisition programs led by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), positioning these programs as a strategic gateway for Algerian pharmaceutical products. During their visit, the Algerian delegation inspected Syntegon's latest manufacturing equipment, which incorporates advanced, fully automated technology not yet commercially available. Minister Guiddouiri received exclusive access to this cutting-edge equipment, a privilege extended to only a limited number of the company's clients, according to a statement from the Saidal Group.
