Tikjda Tourist Pole Receives Natural Gas Connection

The Tikjda tourist pole, a prominent site in the highlands of Bouira wilaya, has achieved a significant milestone in modernizing its hospitality infrastructure. As of Saturday, October 31, 2026, establishments within this celebrated climatic station are officially supplied with natural gas. This energy advancement is particularly timely, arriving at the onset of the cold season to provide visitors and hotel operators in the Djurdjura mountains with a reliable and continuous heat source.

The inauguration of this long-awaited energy infrastructure in the El Asnam commune highlands occurred in the wake of celebrations marking the 72nd anniversary of the November 1st Revolution. The head of the Bouira wilaya executive formally opened the valves of this new network, accompanied by local elected officials and representatives from the energy sector, including the interim director of energy and mines and the head of the local Sonelgaz-Distribution concession. The timing of this event underscores the authorities' commitment to ensuring energy access for mountain regions and supporting areas with significant economic potential.

Bringing natural gas to Tikjda's peaks required a substantial technical undertaking, involving the installation of a 16.7-kilometer distribution pipeline across El Asnam commune to connect the tourist station to the main network. This infrastructure project, costing 73.68 million dinars, was fully financed by the Bouira wilaya's own funds. The provision of this clean energy addresses logistical challenges previously faced by complexes and chalets in heating their premises during snowfall, offering a sustainable and economical resource that is expected to enhance winter attendance by ensuring optimal thermal comfort for visitors.
