Oran Hosts Maternal Care Training with UNICEF

A five-day training program focused on comprehensive care for pregnant women is currently taking place in Oran. Organized by the National Institute of Public Health in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the initiative aims to enhance the competencies of health professionals and elevate the quality of care provided to pregnant women, mothers, and newborns. This training, which commenced last Wednesday, marks the first of its kind within Algeria's Western region, featuring the participation of professors, specialists, and experts.

The program's scientific and practical axes are framed by these experts, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and field experiences related to various aspects of pregnant women's health and psychological well-being. Key modules include medical accompaniment during pregnancy and childbirth, alongside pediatrics and neonatology. Emphasis is placed on providing necessary healthcare for newborns during the initial period of their lives, with contributions from specialized professors and doctors.

Furthering its comprehensive approach, the training also covers psychological accompaniment for pregnant women and techniques for alleviating childbirth pain, guided by specialists from several national hospital institutions. Participants are additionally prepared for natural childbirth, focusing on raising awareness about its various stages and the importance of advance preparation. This holistic initiative is designed to improve care conditions and ensure both health and psychological support, thereby enhancing the overall quality of health services offered to mothers and children.
