Minister Ouadah Inaugurates OneCloud Data Center in Akbou

Minister Noureddine Ouadah of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises officially inaugurated a data center by the start-up OneCloud in Akbou, Béjaïa. This new infrastructure represents a notable advancement in Algeria's digital capabilities, designed to provide services for over 50,000 artificial intelligence students, 10,000 start-ups, and 500 public projects. The selection of Akbou for this strategic development was driven by the region's dynamic economy and the expertise of its youth, including those who have returned from abroad to invest, a direct outcome of the "A young person, an idea" initiative.
During his visit, Minister Ouadah emphasized the government's commitment to supporting youth initiatives that offer sovereign local solutions, thereby expanding the country's economic sovereignty. He also participated in a meeting with local economic stakeholders and start-up founders, who shared their successful ventures in industry, technology, and services. Notably, TauByte proposed hosting its platform at OneCloud to offer local businesses services currently paid for in foreign currency through international providers. The event concluded with the signing of several partnership agreements between OneCloud and entities such as Algeria Venture, Société algérienne des assurances, General Emballage, Soummam, All Plast, and Estin.
Minister Ouadah further articulated that start-ups are now making substantial investments in critical technological infrastructures, which are crucial for reinforcing Algeria's comprehensive digitalization project. He affirmed that private economic operators, particularly start-ups, are vital to this digitalization process, possessing the necessary skills, technology, and investment capacity. Concluding his visit, he highlighted the job creation role of micro-enterprises and their contribution to addressing economic deficiencies, reiterating that support for project bearers, self-entrepreneurs, and micro-enterprises will continue. He stressed that a strong national economy is built through the collective effort of all Algerians, including those residing abroad.
