Minister Sayoud Initiates 2026-2027 Plowing, Sowing Season

The 2026-2027 plowing and sowing season has officially begun across several Algerian wilayas, signaling the formal commencement of agricultural operations nationwide. This launch follows specific instructions from the Minister of Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning, Saïd Sayoud, who emphasized close attention to season preparations and continuous field monitoring. The initiative began with formal signals given from wilayas such as M'Sila and Khenchela.

In response to these directives, numerous wilayas have established dedicated provincial committees tasked with overseeing all preparatory aspects of the plowing and sowing season. These committees are actively engaged in monitoring the readiness of necessary equipment and resources, conducting a comprehensive census of farmers, identifying available land areas, and assessing overall capabilities. Furthermore, they are responsible for activating field teams to supervise operations across different regions.

The scope of these committees extends to accompanying farmers, ensuring they benefit fully from various support measures and programs aimed at bolstering the agricultural season. Special priority is being given to essential agricultural sectors, particularly cereal cultivation. The committees are also mandated to proactively address any identified shortcomings and ensure the timely execution of the planned agricultural program, working in coordination with all stakeholders to provide optimal conditions for a successful season and achieve the established goals for 2026-2027.
