New 5-Star Alcazar Hotel Showcases Algerian Heritage in Tlemcen
The Alcazar Tlemcen, a new five-star hotel, was inaugurated on Thursday, September 24, on the Lalla Setti plateau in Tlemcen. This event signifies a new chapter for the establishment, now operating under the Alcazar banner. This is the initial property in a collection that the Société d’Investissement Hôtelier (SIH) intends to expand across Algeria. The hotel’s design distinctively integrates Algerian identity, with architecture inspired by Moorish traditions, including a grand hall centered around an interior courtyard reminiscent of Andalusian palace patios. The name “Alcazar,” meaning “palace” in Arabic, further reinforces this cultural connection through details such as a Moorish lounge and local artisanal objects.
This strategic direction aligns with the positioning announced by SIH through Algerian Luxury Global Management Hospitality (ALGMH), its new hospitality management structure, and the Alcazar Collection, its premier luxury brand. The objective is to combine international standards with local identity, placing “diyafa,” the Algerian art of hospitality, at the core of the guest experience. The hotel comprises 204 spacious and comfortable rooms and suites, managed by a team of 280 employees trained to meet the demands of a five-star establishment. Further enhancing the guest experience, the Alcazar offers two outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, a gym, a hammam, a sauna, a spa with massage rooms, a banquet hall, and a conference center.
In a further commitment to showcasing Algerian culture, the hotel recently hosted an exhibition featuring various Algerian artists and artisans, which notably captivated both Algerian holidaymakers and diaspora members vacationing in Tlemcen. Culinary offerings at the Al Bustan restaurant also reflect this focus, providing Mediterranean cuisine alongside Algerian specialties such as seffa, tajine lahlou, msemen, braj, and galette. According to Kamel Benblidia, the hotel's general manager, the ambition for the Alcazar Tlemcen is to establish it as a destination where guests can experience quality hospitality while also discovering the rich heritage of Tlemcen.
