New Customs Pact Facilitates Algeria-Mauritania Trade, Border Security

The customs directorates of Algeria and Mauritania have signed a new cooperation agreement during the seventh session of the Mauritanian-Algerian Joint Customs Committee in Nouakchott. Major General Abdehafid Bakhouch, Director General of Algerian Customs, led a delegation and was received by Inspector General Khalid Ould Salek, Director General of Mauritanian Customs, along with other senior officers and officials from the sector. The Algerian dignitary was accorded a salute of honor by a customs unit upon his arrival.

Discussions during the session focused on various areas of customs cooperation between the two countries, exploring methods to enhance coordination. The goal of these deliberations was to advance trade exchanges and streamline the movement of goods and services between Mauritania and Algeria. This collaborative effort underlines a commitment to fostering stronger economic ties.

The newly signed agreement formalizes the commitment to boost cooperation and coordination between the respective customs agencies. Its primary aims include facilitating commercial exchanges and contributing to the security of the shared borders between Algeria and Mauritania.
