Ouargla Launches 429 km Agricultural Electrification Project

Ouargla province has officially launched the second phase of its agricultural electrification program. This initiative involves the connection of a 429-kilometer electrical network specifically designed to support agricultural perimeters within the Hassi-Messaoud areas, including Hassi-Lahdaou and Gassi-Touil. The provincial services of Ouargla announced these developments, marking a significant step towards bolstering agricultural activity in the region.

This extensive electrification project is integral to broader efforts aimed at establishing favorable conditions for agricultural development, particularly for strategic crops. It follows the successful completion of a first phase, which saw the realization of a 425-kilometer network across agricultural zones in the communes of Ouargla, Hassi-Messaoud, N'goussa, and Hassi-Ben Abdallah. Furthermore, Ouargla province has benefited from an operation to develop five agricultural irrigation boreholes, with two located in Hassi-Messaoud and one each in Hassi-Ben Abdallah, N'goussa, and Ouargla, to further support cultivation.

Wali of Ouargla, Abdelghani Filali, underscored the critical importance of supporting the agricultural sector within the province, emphasizing the optimal utilization of the newly established agricultural electrification networks. He stated that the provision of these networks is expected to improve conditions for agricultural investment, encouraging both investors and farmers to expand their activities and thereby reinforce efforts to advance agricultural production throughout the wilaya.
