Sonelgaz Seeks Bids for 200 MW Laghouat, Djelfa Wind Farms

Sonelgaz Énergies Renouvelables initiated a national and international call for tenders on September 30, 2026, for the development of new wind farms across Algeria. This significant undertaking aims to establish a total capacity of 200 megawatts, divided into two distinct 100-megawatt lots, as a concrete step towards advancing the nation's renewable energy objectives. The proposed wind energy projects are specifically designated for Tilghemt in the wilaya of Laghouat and Djelfa in the wilaya of Djelfa.
The comprehensive scope of this tender encompasses a wide array of activities, including initial studies, procurement of necessary equipment, execution of civil works, assembly, training, testing, and commissioning of the facilities. Crucially, the tender also covers the vital connection of these new wind farms to Algeria's national transmission grid. Prospective bidders are required to submit both technical and financial offers concurrently by November 25, 2026, at 10:00 local time, with a public opening of these bids scheduled for the same day at the contracting authority's headquarters in Gué de Constantine, Algiers.
Qualification conditions for interested entities have been structured to encourage diverse participation. These conditions accommodate standalone foreign companies or foreign consortia, as well as joint consortia that include both Algerian and foreign companies. Foreign-only bids or those from foreign consortia must provide three project references, each of at least 80 megawatts, with two of these projects completed outside their home country. Consortia combining Algerian and foreign firms are required to demonstrate two foreign references of at least 80 megawatts capacity, successfully completed internationally. This inclusive framework is designed to facilitate robust opportunities for local participation and collaboration within Algeria's expanding renewable energy sector.
