World Bank Forecasts 3.7% Growth for Algeria’s Economy in 2026

The World Bank has projected a significant 3.7% economic growth for Algeria in 2026, according to its latest regional economic updates report. This positive outlook positions Algeria for robust economic expansion, reflecting favorable conditions in the global energy market and domestic production capabilities.

The forecast indicates that Algeria's economic performance will be bolstered by rising hydrocarbon prices and a slight increase in oil and gas production. As an oil and gas exporting nation located outside the direct conflict zone in the Middle East, Algeria stands to benefit from these elevated prices while avoiding the major disruptions in production and shipping that have impacted other regional economies.

The World Bank report, titled "Closing the Gaps and Seizing Opportunities: AI, Jobs, and Growth," noted that Algeria was not directly affected by the ongoing Middle East conflict. This contrasts with other oil-exporting countries within the conflict zone, such as Iraq and Iran, which are expected to experience economic contraction. The report highlights that oil and gas exporters outside the conflict benefit from higher hydrocarbon prices and bypass significant operational disturbances, contributing to supported exports and government revenues for nations like Algeria.
