Sud H2 Project to Export Algerian Green Hydrogen to Europe

Germany's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Katja Keul, has underscored the significance of the Sud H2 project, an initiative designed to facilitate the export of green hydrogen from Algeria and Tunisia. Ms. Keul made the statement during an official visit to Algeria, highlighting the project's role in future energy supply.

The Sud H2 project is specifically engineered to transport green hydrogen from its North African origins to several European countries. Confirmed destinations for these exports include Italy, Austria, and Germany, positioning Algeria as a crucial contributor to Europe's evolving green energy landscape.

Ms. Keul's remarks came on January 26, following her arrival in Algeria on January 25 for official engagements. This high-level international attention reflects Algeria's growing importance in the global transition towards sustainable energy sources and its potential to strengthen energy partnerships with European nations.
