Gold Medal for Algerian Youth at South Korea Robotics Event

An Algerian robotics team has achieved a gold medal at the FIRST Global Challenge 2026, an international competition held from October 7 to 12 in Incheon, South Korea. The team, composed of five Algerian high school students accompanied by a coach and a mentor, represented Algeria on a global stage dedicated to robotics, innovation, and scientific and technological advancements. This significant victory underscores the exceptional potential and talent of Algerian youth in cutting-edge fields.
The Algerian participation was made possible through a partnership between Samsung Electronics Algérie and Altis Training Center, which provided comprehensive preparation, pedagogical guidance, and technical support. Samsung Electronics Algérie stated its aim to spotlight the creativity and ambition of Algerian youth, offering them an international platform to showcase their skills and contribute to STEM development. Prior to their departure, the team was received by Min Kyung-tae, the South Korean Ambassador to Algeria, who expressed strong encouragement for what he called a "beautiful representation of Algerian youth on the international scene."
Beyond the competition, the team's participation offered unique learning opportunities, including a visit to the Korean Fire Research Institute on October 12. Organized by Samsung, this technology transfer experience provided insights into advanced fire prevention and risk management, which is particularly relevant given recent extreme climatic events in Algeria. The success and international exposure of Team Algeria are intended to inspire other young Algerians to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and innovation, recognizing these disciplines as vital drivers for future development. This initiative is part of Samsung's broader commitment to fostering technological skills among youth, exemplified by the recent launch of the Samsung Innovation Campus 2026 in Algeria, focused on artificial intelligence development.
