Tebboune Sets 2027 Goals for African Iron, Phosphate, Zinc Exports

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has articulated a clear vision for strengthening Algerian exports to African markets, setting 2027 as a pivotal year for this economic expansion. During a meeting with economic operators, the President emphasized the importance of boosting exports, particularly focusing on iron, integrated phosphate, and zinc, to open broader economic and trade horizons with African nations.
To achieve these export objectives, President Tebboune highlighted the necessity of regulating the national market and safeguarding producers. He further revealed a request to the government for the establishment of a public institution. This entity would be tasked with absorbing and storing surplus production, enabling intervention during periods of scarcity or price hikes, thereby ensuring market stability and protecting farmers from potential losses due to abundant yields.
Reinforcing trade exchanges with Africa is a key component of this strategy, with President Tebboune underscoring the critical completion of the Trans-Saharan Road. This vital infrastructure project aims to connect Algeria with neighboring countries such as Chad, Niger, and Mali, stimulating regional commerce and expanding the operational scope of Algerian ports. Furthermore, the President reaffirmed the commitment to extending the railway line to Tamanrasset, with expectations for citizens to travel by train between Tamanrasset and the capital by the end of 2028.
