Sonelgaz: Mediterranean Parliament Honors Mr. Aït Hamouda with the “Excellence for the Mediterranean” Award

Algiers – The Mediterranean Parliament honored the CEO of Sonelgaz, Mr. Mourad Aït Hamouda, with the “Excellence for the Mediterranean” (PAM Sustainability Award) on Thursday in Rome, Italy, during the 19th Plenary Session of the Parliament, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies.

This recognition acknowledges Mr. Aït Hamouda’s efforts in enhancing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in renewable energy and his role in supporting the energy integration of electricity networks in the region.

The award ceremony took place during a formal event organized by the Italian Parliament at the Palazzo Barberini, attended by prominent political and economic figures, the Algerian Ambassador to Italy, and several members of the Italian Parliament.

In his speech, Mr. Aït Hamouda expressed his pride in receiving this honor, thanking the highest authorities in the country, particularly President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for their support of Sonelgaz’s efforts to invest in renewable energy and ensure regional energy security.

He emphasized that this accolade is a recognition of Sonelgaz’s and Algeria’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation in the energy sector. “This award reflects the diligent work we are doing to support the energy transition, promote renewable energy projects, and integrate electricity networks in the Mediterranean region,” he said, according to the statement.

The award also highlights “Algeria’s pivotal role in the energy sector and confirms the success of Sonelgaz’s strategies in supporting the energy transition and developing sustainable projects.”
