Algiers – Rachid Hachichi, CEO of Sonatrach, accompanied by a high-level delegation, participated in the 2025 Algerian-American Energy Business Forum in Houston, USA, where he reaffirmed Sonatrach’s ongoing commitment to exploring new investment opportunities, according to a Wednesday statement from the company.

The statement noted that Sonatrach’s participation in the forum is part of its efforts to “strengthen cooperation with American companies and solidify partnerships with major players in the energy sector.”

In his speech, Hachichi emphasized Sonatrach’s dedication to exploring new investment prospects, particularly in hydrocarbons, renewable energy, hydrogen, energy efficiency, and reducing carbon emissions. He highlighted the company’s resolve to “maintain its position as a safe and reliable supplier,” leveraging its modern infrastructure and significant exploration achievements.

Hachichi also underscored the incentives offered by Algeria’s hydrocarbons law to investors and the country’s substantial resources in both conventional and renewable energy.

The forum featured two panel discussions covering oil, gas, and renewable energy. The first, focused on the oil and gas industry, included Farhat Aounoughi, Vice President for Business Development and Marketing, while Youcef Khanfar, Central Director for Green and Renewable Energies, participated in the second discussion on green hydrogen as a future energy source.

Organized by the Algerian-American Business Council and the Algerian-American Bilateral Chamber, with support from the Algerian Embassy in Washington, the forum saw participation from a distinguished Algerian delegation alongside Hachichi, including Mourad Beldjehem, President of the Hydrocarbon Resources Valorization Agency, and Amine Remini, Director General of Hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies.

The event also attracted senior executives from major U.S. energy companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Occidental, Air Products, and Hecate, according to Sonatrach.
