Algeria and Chad Strengthen Cooperation in Mining and Mineral Industries

Algeria has expressed its readiness to share institutional and technical expertise with Chad in the mining sector as both countries seek to strengthen economic cooperation and support sustainable development.
Algerian Minister of Mines and Mining Industries Mourad Hanifi made the remarks on Saturday while receiving a delegation from Chad’s Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Geology at the ministry’s headquarters. The meeting was also attended by Chad’s Ambassador to Algeria, Mokhtar Wawa Dahab.
The talks concluded a five-day working visit by the Chadian delegation to Algeria, organized as part of directives from the leaders of both countries to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in mining and mineral industries.
During the visit, Chadian officials conducted field visits to several Algerian institutions and organizations operating in the mining sector, allowing them to examine Algeria’s management systems, institutional structures, and working methods.
Hanifi described the visit as a practical step toward building a stronger partnership and reaffirmed Algeria’s willingness to share its experience and technical expertise with Chad. He emphasized the two countries’ ambition to develop stronger, more integrated economies.
Members of the Chadian delegation praised Algeria’s experience in managing the mining sector and expressed their intention to draw on successful Algerian organizational models to support the development of Chad’s mining industry.
Both sides agreed to continue exchanging expertise in the management and structuring of mining institutions. Cooperation will also focus on developing specialized skills in Chad through training programs for Chadian engineers and exploring joint projects related to the exploration of underground mineral resources.
The two countries also committed to strengthening economic ties and building a sustainable, long-term partnership in the sector.
Hanifi concluded by calling for the establishment of a practical roadmap to translate the agreements into concrete projects and ensure that bilateral mining cooperation contributes effectively to sustainable development in both Algeria and Chad.
