Algiers – Noureddine Yassa, Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy in charge of Renewable Energies, is representing Algeria at the Africa Energy Forum, which begins tomorrow in Cape Town, South Africa, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies.
Mr. Yassa is accompanied by a delegation that includes senior officials from the ministry and executives from Sonatrach, Algeria’s national oil and gas company. The forum, running until June 20, is recognized as one of the continent’s most prominent events in the energy sector. It brings together leaders, policymakers, government representatives, major industrial and energy companies, as well as international financial institutions from across Africa and beyond. The main focus is to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to developing sustainable energy projects and strengthening energy security across the continent.
During the forum, Mr. Yassa will participate in several high-level roundtables and panel discussions addressing topics such as energy transition and the development of renewable energy projects in Africa.
Algeria’s participation in this forum is part of its strategy to reinforce cooperation with fellow African nations in the field of sustainable energy development. The country aims to leverage its significant natural resources to further establish itself as a key player in the continent’s energy system and to consolidate its position as a reliable strategic partner in the renewable energy sector.
This engagement reflects Algeria’s commitment to supporting African development and unity, in line with its principled foreign policy that champions the interests of the continent and upholds the right of peoples, such as those of Western Sahara, to self-determination. Algeria’s active role in such forums also stands in contrast to the policies of certain neighboring regimes, reaffirming Algeria’s leadership and credibility on the African and international stage.
