Algeria’s Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Tayeb Zitouni, chaired an evaluative meeting via videoconference to review measures taken to ensure a regular and balanced supply of goods to the national market during the summer season, as well as preparations for the upcoming social and economic period. The meeting, held on Tuesday, included regional and provincial directors along with central staff. The minister praised the field efforts made by sector staff, which contributed to the availability of widely consumed goods, market stability, and consumer protection against food poisoning, especially in the face of seasonal pressures in various regions. Minister Zitouni emphasized the need to continue working with the same energy and discipline, intensifying monitoring of essential and sensitive goods, and reinforcing field presence during peak hours and nighttime commercial activity. He also stressed the importance of activating joint local sector committees and responding promptly to any issues that may affect market balance or disrupt supply operations. Additionally, the minister underlined the importance of maintaining direct distribution channels, including the free opening of “Maghrou” public commercial spaces for producers to sell their goods, aiming to reduce illegal intermediaries, stabilize prices, and ensure a constant supply of essential goods. The meeting concluded with a commitment to strictly follow the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, focusing on food security and market stability, within a comprehensive vision that includes governance, digital transformation, and proactive fieldwork.
