The first edition of the African School Games concluded on Tuesday evening, August 5, 2025, in a ceremony held at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba. The games, which took place from July 26 to August 5, 2025, were organized in several cities including Annaba, Constantine, Setif, and Skikda. The closing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Sports Minister Walid Sadi, Minister of Youth and Head of the National Youth Council Mustafa Hidaoui, Minister of National Education Mohamed Sghir Saadawi, as well as the heads of the African National Olympic Committees Association (ACNOA) and the National Organizing Committee of the African School Games, along with the governors of Annaba, Constantine, Setif, and Skikda, and many athletes from Algeria and abroad. During the event, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was awarded a gold medal by ACNOA for his support in making the first edition of the African School Games a success. The top three winners—Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia—were also honored. Additionally, the flag was handed over by ACNOA President Mustafa Berraf and Minister of Sports Walid Sadi to the Nigerian Minister of Youth and Sports, as Nigeria will host the second edition of the games in 2027. The games saw the participation of 1,700 athletes from 47 countries.
