Algiers Stock Exchange: BNP Paribas Algeria Loses Status as Qualified Account Keeper and Custodian

Algiers – The Commission for the Organization and Supervision of Stock Exchange Transactions (COSOB) announced Sunday that it has withdrawn the status of “Qualified Account Keeper and Custodian” from BNP Paribas Algeria Bank, effective September 17, 2025, following a request from the bank itself.

According to COSOB’s statement, all investors on the stock exchange are notified that BNP Paribas Algeria has been removed from the list of authorized account keepers and custodians as of the aforementioned date.

The commission clarified that the balances of investors who held bond accounts with BNP Paribas Algeria but have not yet transferred them to other active account keepers or custodians have been temporarily transferred to Algérie de Compensation Company (the central securities depository).

Algérie de Compensation will manage these remaining balances on a temporary basis until their owners transfer them permanently to eligible active account keepers and custodians, as stipulated in the communiqué.
