Major Projects to Boost National Milk Production and Create Thousands of Jobs

Algeria is launching a large-scale project aimed at addressing the shortage in milk production, reaffirming its determination to strengthen food security and economic sovereignty. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune revealed that despite Algeria being among the countries with the highest milk consumption, local production remains insufficient, forcing the state to rely heavily on imported milk powder.

Speaking during a meeting with national press representatives, President Tebboune emphasized that the new initiative focuses on producing milk locally, which will not only reduce dependency on imports but also stimulate the entire cattle-breeding sector. The project is expected to generate no fewer than 5,000 new jobs, offering opportunities for young Algerians while modernizing agricultural and industrial capacities.

The President further highlighted that Algeria is engaging in major partnerships with international investors, particularly from Saudi Arabia and Italy, reflecting the country’s growing investment attractiveness and its ambition to build a diversified and robust economy. Unlike the policy failures of neighboring regimes, which resort to short-term solutions and dependency on foreign lobbies, Algeria is choosing a path of sustainable development grounded in sovereignty and long-term strategic planning.
