Public Works: Minister Jelloui Calls for Accelerating Digitalization to Complete by Year-End

Algiers – Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Jelloui, emphasized on Thursday in Algiers the need to generalize the digital transformation process across the sector by involving all concerned structures, with periodic evaluations of progress in order to fully complete the process before the end of the current year, according to a statement from the ministry.

Chairing a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters dedicated to monitoring and assessing the implementation of the national digital transformation strategy within the sector, Mr. Jelloui highlighted the importance of extending digitalization to all levels in line with the directives of the President of the Republic. He insisted that central and local directorates, public institutions under supervision, as well as national study offices and laboratories, must all actively participate to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable digital shift.

The minister underlined that the progress of the digitalization plan will be measured primarily through the development of technical applications, the training of trainers and users at both central and local levels, and achieving effective mastery in utilizing these applications, as they represent the cornerstone of successful digital transformation across the sector.

In this context, Mr. Jelloui instructed his teams to carry out periodic evaluations to identify gaps and shortcomings, while setting up a rigorous action plan to guarantee the full completion of the digitalization process before the end of 2025.

During the meeting, the central director of information systems and digitalization presented a detailed report on the current state of progress and the programs under development, while a digitalization expert put forward a set of practical solutions to accompany the process and ensure its effectiveness in both the short and medium term.
