Algeria is gearing up for a significant housing distribution program slated to coincide with the celebrations marking the 71st anniversary of the Algerian Revolution, observed annually on November 1st. A high-level coordination meeting was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport to finalize preparations for this initiative.
The meeting was jointly chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Mahmoud Djamaa, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Said Attia. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the primary objective of the meeting was to finalize the number of housing units to be distributed across the country during the national holiday.
The meeting saw participation from the Walis (Governors) of the Republic and Directors of Housing, connected remotely via video conferencing. Discussions focused on ensuring the readiness of the housing units and streamlining the distribution process. This initiative underscores the ongoing commitment of the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City to provide housing solutions in various forms and during significant historical milestones. Notably, on July 5th of this year, over 192,000 housing units were distributed across all provinces of Algeria.
During his intervention, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City emphasized that the progress achieved in preparing the housing units reflects the substantial efforts made by various stakeholders in the sector. He attributed this success to diligent monitoring and regular central-level meetings focused on projects under construction or recently initiated.
Furthermore, the Secretary-General commended the efficiency in completing projects ahead of contractual deadlines. These projects, which commenced between late 2024 and early 2025, are specifically earmarked for distribution on November 1st. He highlighted the successful completion of projects managed by the Office for Promotion and Real Estate Management (OPGI) in the provinces of Mostaganem and Bordj Bou Arreridj as examples of this progress. The initiative is considered a significant step in addressing housing needs across Algeria and commemorating the nation’s history.
