Algeria: ANEP Donates 100 Wheelchairs to Support People with Disabilities

The National Agency for Communication, Publishing, and Advertising (ANEP) in Algeria has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by donating 100 wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the National Observatory of Civil Society, aims to support children and adults affected by cerebral palsy (IMC).

A ceremony was held at ANEP’s headquarters on Monday, October 20th, to mark the handover of the wheelchairs. The event was a joint effort between ANEP and the National Observatory of Civil Society, with the presence of ANEP’s CEO, Masoud El Ghoum, and the President of the National Observatory of Civil Society, Ibtisam Hamlaoui, along with other officials and media representatives.

During the ceremony, Masoud El Ghoum expressed his pride in ANEP’s participation in humanitarian initiatives that reflect the values of solidarity and social cohesion. He stated, “We are proud of such initiatives that aim to integrate this group into various fields. Many of them have excelled in raising the national flag at major international events. They are not people with special needs, but people with high aspirations, and we consider them a model of will, challenge, and giving.”

Ibtisam Hamlaoui praised the Algerian state’s efforts in caring for people with disabilities and integrating them into public policies. She noted that this occasion is a culmination of the summer university for people with special needs, carrying a human and societal symbolism. She also commended the important role of civil society in supporting this group, praising ANEP’s humanitarian donation and its contribution to consolidating the values of solidarity and social responsibility.

Furthermore, Hamlaoui highlighted the initiatives of active associations, such as the “Hope of Life” association, for their surgical operations aimed at children with cerebral palsy, affirming the Observatory’s support for these noble efforts. The event concluded with a symbolic handover of the wheelchairs to a number of beneficiaries, overseen by Masoud El Ghoum and Ibtisam Hamlaoui, in an atmosphere of appreciation and gratitude for this gesture.

This donation underscores ANEP’s dedication to supporting vulnerable populations and promoting inclusion within Algerian society. The wheelchairs will significantly improve the mobility and quality of life for individuals with cerebral palsy, enabling them to participate more fully in their communities. This initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector in addressing the needs of people with disabilities and creating a more equitable and inclusive society. The Algerian government continues to emphasize the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities and is working to implement policies that promote their integration into all aspects of life. These efforts, combined with the contributions of organizations like ANEP, are essential for creating a truly inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential. The event served as a reminder of the importance of empathy, compassion, and collective action in building a better future for all Algerians.
