Minister of Communication, Zohir Bouamama, has emphasized the critical role of national media in confronting the evolving challenges facing Algeria, both domestically and internationally. His remarks were delivered during a symposium organized by the People’s National Assembly, titled ‘Information and Communication: From Serving the Liberation Revolution to Current Challenges.’
Bouamama stated that, at the national level, these challenges include preserving the achievements of the New Algeria, as established by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of contributing to the realization of its ambitious goals and building a cohesive internal front between the people and state institutions, with a particular emphasis on the National People’s Army.
The Minister also highlighted the need to strengthen a robust and productive economy that positions Algeria among emerging nations, while consolidating reforms and reinforcing the nascent democratic experience.
Regionally and internationally, Bouamama asserted that the challenge lies in presenting an accurate and favorable image of Algeria, defending its positions and principles, and thwarting all attempts to destabilize its stability and unity. This, he argued, makes the media the first line of defense for the nation.
In the face of rapid technological advancements, the state, through the Ministry of Communication, affirms its continued support for the development of national media, enhancing its professionalism, effectiveness, and ethical standards, the Minister concluded.
